I'm on the Imperial Sugar mailing list so once a month, I get an email of dessert recipes. This time the email had some cute ideas for July 4th patriotic desserts in colors of red, white, and blue. Below is a video of how to make Red White and Blue Cupcakes. I'd use a cake mix to speed up the preparation. If cupcakes are not your thing or you do not want to go to that much trouble, then try their Patriotic Poke Cake for your picnic. If you are planning party inside or have a refrigerator nearby, you might want to try the Stars and Berries Cheesecake instead.
