Setting Personal and Professional New Year Resolutions

Before you hit the mall to get all those great post-holiday deals, be sure to set your New Year’s resolutions.  If you set a resolution to save more money in the coming year, be sure you consider that resolve before going shopping.  It could either stop you from going or at least encourage you to set a limit for what you spend at the clearance racks and tables.  To make sure you stick to your limit, track your expenditures (including food) throughout the shopping spree.  You can use a phone app or pen and paper to keep track of total costs.  Don’t do it in your head or you ill miss something.  Once you hit your limit, you switch from buy mode to window shopping only if you are with friends.  Keeping track of the costs will encourage you to question each item before you buy so you don’t end up with stuff you really did not want or need just because it seemed like a good deal at the time.
