In Texas, it is tax-free weekend
on school supplies and clothing. What
this means to parents is that they can save a little on purchasing what their
children need to start the school year. Besides
making “grade packs” of supplies, most department stores and office supply stores
put many of the other desired items on sale during this weekend to encourage
the parents to shop with them rather than their competitors when buying new
name-brand stuff. One of our local thrift stores went beyond the sale
concept to help parents save more money (since everything a student needs does
not have to be new) by offering all their clothes for half price as well as the
no tax for this weekend.
